Dr. Albertha Joseph-Alexander became a member of the Caribbean Academy of Sciences (CAS) in 2021 and presently serves as the Regional Executive Public Relations Officer (PRO).
She is the first female President of the Trinidad and Tobago chapter of CAS and previously served in the roles of, Acting President and PRO. In 2025 she participated and represented CAS for the International Science Council (ISC) Digital Journeys Cohort 1. Presently, she is also a member of The Network for the Public Communication of Science and Technology (PCST Network).
She obtained her PhD in Plant Science and an MSc. in Crop Protection from The University of the West Indies, St. Augustine Campus. In 2021, she attained a Professional Master in the Communication of Science and Innovation from the University of Trento, Italy.
Going by the sobriquet, DrStoryTell, Dr. Joseph Alexander desires to use science communication and storytelling as a vehicle to better translate research information for the benefit of Caribbean people. In recent years, she has been involved in the planning of food festivals in collaboration with local NGOs such as the Network of Rural Women Producers Trinidad and Tobago. Her belief is that these events are,
“fun places where facts abound”. Her research interest includes crop improvement and nitrogen fixation.
